From A Project Opera Parent

Dear Dale,

My wife Kathryn and I attended last Saturday’s performance of Carmen. Seeing you out on stage taking a bow with the Children’s Chorus members spurred me to send you this long overdue note of thanks about the phenomenal impact the Project Opera program was for our son Sam. Sam attended the Summer Camp in 2006 and 2007. He was also a member of Giovani and Apprentices during his 2007-2008 senior year. He was thrilled when he was able to perform as a chorus member in the May 2008 Minnesota Opera production of Rusalka.

His experience in Project Opera propelled him to attend DePaul University in Chicago to major in Vocal Performance where he graduated with a BM in 2012. From there, DePaul offered him a full scholarship to continue in their Masters program in Vocal Performance. He took a break in the winter quarter of his second year (Jan-Mar, 2014) to sing professionally in the chorus at Sarasota Opera, FL. This delayed his projected graduation of June, 2014 for his MM in Vocal Performance. His last quarter of work is still on hold because, in August, 2014, he moved to Koblenz, Germany to take a full time chorus position in the Theatre der Stadt opera company. He is just finishing up his contract year and is now excitedly looking forward to moving to Bern, Switzerland in August to begin a new chorus position in the opera company there.

I wanted you and the rest of the Project Opera staff to know what an incredible influence you had on Sam and his subsequent success as a professional opera singer. Too often you probably see kids come and go through your program and wonder what was the impact on them and where they went from there. Well I hope you can see how valuable the program is through what Sam has done since his participation in Project Opera.

Once again, please accept my heartfelt thanks for your work with the kids in the Project Opera and Summer Camp programs. Keep up the awesome work with those budding opera stars of the future!

Sincerely yours,
