  • Behind the Curtain

    When: Wednesday, April 6 from 7-9pm

    What: Get the inside scoop! Behind the Curtain explores the music, history, and production of each opera. Each event will feature talks led by Minnesota Opera’s Head of Music Rob Ainsley and informative discussions with members of the cast and creative team.

  • Ghost Tours

    When: Friday, April 22 from 5-8pm or 7-9:30pm

    What: Join host Dave Schrader from Darkness Radio and Minnesota Opera singers Shannon Prickett and David Walton, the ghosts from the opera The Shining, for drinks and a casual conversation about their roles as Mrs. Massey and Delbert Gradey from the famous Stephen King novel. Then explore the supernatural among the ghosts and legends of Minneapolis’ original and only Real Ghost Tour!

  • St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra Open Rehearsal

    When: Sunday, April 24 – 7pm rehearsal, 8:30pm reception

    What: To demystify the process of creating an opera, Minnesota Opera is partnering with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra at an open rehearsal. Minnesota Opera artists and singers will work with the St. Cloud Symphony Orchestra to perform music from The Shining for local audiences. Pulitzer prize-winning composer Paul Moravec, librettist Mark Campbell, Music Director Michael Christie, and Artistic Director Dale Johnson will participate in the event, along with Resident Artists Andrew Lovato (singing the role of Jack Torrance) and Siena Forest (singing the role of Wendy Torrance). Following the rehearsal, musicians and audience members will be able to talk with the creative team and singers during a reception.

    The St. Cloud Symphony Open Rehearsal of The Shining is sponsored by OPERA America and The Opera Fund.

  • Community Book Read

    When: Monday, April 25 at 7pm  

    What: Join librettist Mark Campbell and composer Paul Moravec for a discussion about how the iconic novel by Stephen King has been reimagined for the stage.

  • Library Community Discussion

    When: Tuesday, April 26 from 7-8:30pm

    What: Hear librettist Mark Campbell talk about adapting The Shining for the operatic stage in this community discussion.

  • American Composers Forum

    When: Sunday, May 1 at 1pm

    Who: American Composers Forum Members

    What: Please join us for a Composer-to-Composer session with composer Paul Moravec and librettist Mark Campbell on Sunday, May 1st at the Ordway Center in St. Paul, MN. The conversation will take place at 1:00pm, and members will then be invited to observe the Minnesota Opera’s sitzprobe of The Shining at 2:00pm. This is your opportunity to connect, ‘talk shop,’ and experience the work of these accomplished artists!
