Career day for singers and pianists! How do you become an opera singer? Is there a career for a pianist in opera? What does a vocal coach do? Join other talented high school vocalists and pianists as they explore the world of professional opera in Day at the Opera. Throughout the day, students participate in a master class led by member of the Opera’s artistic staff, observe professionals in rehearsal, tour the scene and costume shops, and more. A question and answer time will provide opportunity for students to learn about colleges, auditions, and what the future might hold for a young singer. When does this happen and how much does it cost? January 14, February 18, April 1, 2009. The cost is $25/participant. Transportation is the responsibility of the student. What does my student need to prepare? Vocal students are required to prepare one aria or art song (Please no Broadway or pop) to be performed in the master class. Pianists will be assigned a piece being performed in the master class a few weeks before the event. Call Jamie Andrews for more details. Who can attend? Teachers, accompanists and parents are all welcome to attend but are not required. How do I sign up my student? Call 612-342-9573 (1-800-676-6737, ext. 573), or email andrews@mnopera.org with your recommendation. There is no audition requirement and space is very limited. |
