Auditions for The Minnesota Opera Chorus are held annually, generally during the week following the last production of the season.
The Minnesota Opera Chorus is contacted on a per production basis. All choristers are contracted as independent entities. Only rarely will a chorus member be engaged for all the season’s productions.
All chorus positions are paid. The current rehearsal rate is $9.00 per rehearsal hour. Performance fees are paid on a per performance basis and are determined by productions history - $85 per performance for 1-3 productions, $100 per performance for 4-10 productions and $120 per performance after 10 productions. All singers cast will be issued contracts and expected to attend all rehearsals and performances.

Auditions are by appointment only and must be scheduled in advance. Appointments will be scheduled starting March 31st. All appointments are on a first-come, first-serve basis.

Audition requirements: Prepare one operatic aria of the performer’s choice, in the original language. Bring current resume and photo. Singer must provide own accompanist. A list of accompanists can be made available upon request.
As this is the one opportunity for everyone to be heard, non-resident singers are welcome and encouraged to audition. However, be aware that most Principal roles are usually cast a year in advance and supporting roles are generally cast locally or from our Resident Artist Program.
