Minnesota native, Eryn Tvete, has been performing in the Minnesota Opera chorus since 2008. During that time she has had the privilege to be part of two world premiere productions, including The Shining and Manchurian Candidate. She also played one of the three secretaries in The Dream of Valentino. Her favorite chorus role, thus far, was playing one of the witches in Macbeth but a close second was portraying Lucille Ball in Don Pasquale.
Ms. Tvete is also the managing director of Opera on Tap Twin Cities and the master of ceremonies for each performance. She has a passion for new music and each year the Twin Cities chapter puts on a performance made up entirely of new opera arias and art songs. Ms. Tvete's love for theater began at a young age while performing at The Barn Theatre in her hometown of Willmar, Minnesota. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in music and a minor in theater from the University of Minnesota Duluth. While there she played her favorite role, Mrs. Lovett, in Sweeney Todd and received the John Philip Sousa award for her dedication to the music department. In the Twin Cities she has performed with the Minnesota Chorale, Bloomington Civic Theater, and the Gilbert and Sullivan Very Light Opera Company.
Upcoming chorus appearances include Thaïs with Minnesota Opera (May, 2017) and Mill City Summer Opera's 2017 summer production.
