Fiammetta Baldiserri

Fiammetta Baldiserri was born in Cesena, Italy in 1967.

She graduated from University of Bologna with a degree in Earth Science. She also attended a course for lighting designer at the Teatro Regio in Parma, where she began her studies in the technical aspects of lighting.

From 1987 to 1998, Baldiserri has worked at the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds and, in the 1998, assisted with lighting at the international tour of The Woman of the Sea, directed by Robert Wilson.

Collaborating with AJ Waissbard she created lighting for Lady from the Sea in São Paulo (Brasil), Swan Lake in Ljubjana Slovenia, and Ermenegildo Zegna fashion show in Milan, with Giuseppe di Iorio for Guilleume Tell and Life is a Dream, directed by Grahan Vick in Birmingham (England); and with Valerio Tiberi, The Mission, directed by Morricone for the National Theater of Seoul (Korea).

In 2001, she has collaborated on the lighting design of Aida at Teatro Verdi (Busseto), directed by Franco Zeffirelli and, in 2002, served as lighting designer for La traviata, again directed by Franco Zeffirelli, for a remount at the Bolshoi Theater in Moscow. In 2004, she was the lighting assistant at the Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro.

She has designed the lighting on productions for several directors: Pierfrancesco Maestrini – Nabucco for the Ravenna Festival; I pescatori di perle for Spain’s Bilbao Theater, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Il trovatore and Manon Lescaut for the Teatro Massimo Bellini (Catania); and Otello for Teatro San Carlo Naples; Beppe De Tomasi – Cavalleria rusticana, Pagliacci, Ifigenia in Aulide, La traviata, and Carmen; Stefano Simone Pintor – Il flauto magico at the Teatro Sociale di Como; il progetto for Opera Domani and for Royal Opera House Muscat in Oman; Jacopo Spirei – Così fan tutte at the Teatro di Sassari; Damiano Michieletto – Il barbiere di Siviglia for Maggio Musicale Fiorentino; Fabio Ceresa – Madama Butterfy; Simone Toni – Le cosmicomiche, Hamelin, Progetto 84, Un cuore infranto, and Officina 24 for “Gli Incauti Company.”

Baldiserri has designed many productions with director Andrea Cigni – Orfeo, The Medium/ Gianni Schicchi, Ernani, and Nabucco at the Teatro Ponchielli; Paride ed Elena and Romèo et Juliette for the Teatro Verdi Pisa and at Opéra Royal Wallonie (Liège); La figlia del reggimento for As.li.co.;. La traviata for Teatro Fraschini Pavia; Don Pasquale for the Centre Lyrique de France; La cambiale di matrimonio for Teatro Regio Parma; Abay for the National Theater of Almaty in Kazakistan; and Carmen for Teatro di Sassari.

Baldiserri has designed for the Musei di San Domenico of Forlì, and teaches Scenografia del Melodramma at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Bologna.
