Facility Rental

The Minnesota Opera Center has three rehearsal rooms available for rent whenever they are not in use by the Opera. The primary rental times are May through mid-August and the month of December, although shorter rentals can sometimes be accommodated during other periods.  The rooms are designed for performing arts rehearsals and thus that is the most common use for renters. Some organizations, however, have found the unique spaces appropriate for other purposes such as non-profit galas, benefits or meetings. The Minnesota Opera Center cannot be rented out for personal private events such as weddings or other receptions.

Extras

TABLES and CHAIRS:

Besides the standard setup of chairs and tables in each rehearsal space, the Opera Center has more than 100 additional chairs and a small number of tables available at no additional charge depending on availability. The renter is responsible for the set-up and tear-down of any chair/table arrangement in the rehearsal room. The renter can have the Opera Scene Shop set up and tear down chairs and tables for an additional charge.

PIANOS:

The renter has access to one piano in each room included in the rental. The pianos are tuned several times per year for Opera use. The renter can request an additional piano tuning with a one week notice. The pianos must be tuned by the Opera’s piano technician at a rate of $120 per tuning per piano.

CATERING:

Any prepared food provided must be served by a licensed caterer. The Opera Center has no kitchen facility in the building. Any alcoholic beverages must be served by the catering company and it must have an on-sale liquor license and Liquor Legal liability insurance.

The Minnesota Opera Center is under the jurisdiction of IATSE Local #13 and depending on the circumstances, a crew member may be required to be in attendance during the rental. Scene Shop personnel are generally not required if the rooms are rented for rehearsal purposes. Scene Shop personnel will be required if the room is rented for events that have a substantial technical set-up or for a performance at which admission is charged.
